MSCB Golf Returns:  Finally with the return of the great british summer comes the return of MSCB Golf.  We are planning to hold golf sessions once again on Saturdays/Sundays, exact times are yet to be confirmed.  If you are interested in playing golf then please let me know asap (via the feedback form or email me on abbas.meghjee@gmail.com), or if anyone is interested in being the the golf co-ordinator then, again please let me know.  Depending on the numbers we get the format will planned accordingly.  Any suggestions are more than welcome.

It is hoped by having a more transparent way of working, members will know about decisions being made in a timely manner and therefore be able to voice their opinions and give continuous feedback throughout the year.

You said: "Extra cost of events should come from players and not the sports club"

.

What we did:

.

Every effort will be made to break even for any event by charging the appropriate fee to players participating therefore not dipping into the kitty money. However it is only inevitable that there maybe rare occasions that any shortfalls will be need to be covered by the kitty money.

You said: "Organising cricket trials on another day apart from Fridays"

.

What we did:

.

After careful consideration it was decided that costs would be too high to keep cricket trials on another day and also due to busy schedules of the players it was generally accepted that a Friday would be best.

What we did:

Therefore cricket trials have continued to beheld on a Friday.

You said: "Organise football practice on a seperate night to NIA"

.

What we did:

.

Football practices will now be taking place on Tuesday nights at power league at 9pm. Please see the homepage for details.

You said: "Creating a league system for football and possibly open up the football league to other Muslim communities"

.

What we did:

. 

After discussions with the football co-ordinator, it has been decided that the main objective for football is to re-establish the sport with the club, as it has recently been a declining sport.

It is therefore not considered to be the appropriate time to set up a league at the moment. However this is something that we aspire to in the future and if anybody has any input regarding this we welcome suggestions.

You said: "Incorporate senior player into youth volleyball practices for training purposes"

.

What we did:

At the moment we currently have 4-5 senior players regularly attending NIA sessions. This has noticeably improved that standard of the game and Masoomin sports club are actively encouraging other players to participate.

Since the Muharram break, the main focus has been restarting the NIA sessions.

.

The committee are currently in the process of going through the action points which was raised by the members in the 2007 AGM. Below are some of the issues raised and what has been done about them.

Not all of the issues raised in the 2007 AGM have been addressed yet, this page will be updated as and when further developments are made, so watch this space!!

You said: - “Have a set fee for Basketball and utilise the other half of the hall”

.

An issue was raised that the price charged to basketball players fluctuated depending on the attendance and that only half of the hall was being used, even though we were incurring the full cost.

.

What we did

.

Two badminton courts have now been set up in parallel to the basketball court. This now means that both badminton and basketball players now pay a set fee of £1.50.

You saidAn additional EGM should be held half way through the year”

.

Members expressed the view that only having an AGM once a year in which members are given an opportunity to express their views is not enough and hence and an EGM should be called half way through the year

What we did

.

It was thought that this point came down to a wider issue of the lack of transparency and communication between the committee and its members. It is for this very reason that this updates section has been uploaded to the website, where members are informed of developments taking place within the sports club regularly.

.

A feedback form has been added to the contact us page which makes it easier for member to voice their opinions. By using this feedback form you will receive a written response via email or the website. All members are encouraged to give your feedback and suggestions.

The original suggestion will also be implemented and it has been decided that the optimal time for this EGM is near to the time of the MAMT tournament.

You said “Team co-ordinators should not be committee members”

.

It was suggested that team co-ordinators should not be committee members as it can over burden the individual and the committee.

.

What we did

.

Team co-ordinators are still in the process of being selected and finalised. It is expected that the majority of the co-ordinators will be from outside of the committee. However Kassim Mawji will keep his position of Basketball co-ordinator and will also be a committee member.

.

This decision has been made due to Kassims experience and also it is believed the comment made referred to the “bigger” sports such as Football and Volleyball.

You saidPlayers who pull out of tournaments should be penalised”

.

An issue was raised that too many people pull out of tournaments after putting their name down to play. This has obvious adverse effects on the team going to the tournament and therefore those players pulling should be penalised.

.

What we did

.

A decision has been made that once a team has been announced, members will be given a date in which they can withdraw their name. If an individual withdraws after this date, they will incur a penalty charge, which is likely to be, (at the minimum) the entrance fee per individual for the tournament.

This decision is still open to discussion, so if anybody has any ideas on how we could deal with this more effectively, we would love to hear from you!.
